More Infomation
Jusangjeollidae on Mudeung Mt. is the evidence of past volcanic activity in the mountain and was made by volcanic activities during the Cretaceous period of the Mesozoic era 90 million years ago. The lava from a volcanic eruption first cools and finally becomes these pillar-shaped joints after being affected by the effects of weathering over a long period. These magnificent pillars look like a folding screen or huge columns and is one of the most famous places on Mudeung Mt.
Jusangjeollidae looks like stone pillars that were made a long time ago by the god of Mudeung Mt. for some special purpose. The joints display the pinnacle of art and are composed of Ipseokdae, Seoseokdae and Gubong (parts of Jusangjeollidae) Ipseokdae. Seoseokdae and Ipseokdae were designated as Natural Monuments in 2003 and have a breathtaking landscape that looks as if they were a beautiful folding screen or huge columns. Ipseokdae is composed of tens of 5 to 8 angled stone pillars, the width and height of which are 6~7m and 10m, respectively. Seoseokdae showcases a magnificent landscape in which the stone pillars beautifully stretch from west to east and has high scientific value.
