In 2006, Gwangju Youth Music Festival set out to find and foster the hidden musicians across Asia, and to develop Gwangju as a mecca of the music industry.

The festival has been established as one of the international music festivals where young people from Korea, China, Japan and Mongolia exert their talents to the fullest through competition and festivals, as well as exchange culture and friendship.
