Staying ‘Nation’s No. 1’ for Integrity Levels

- Gwangju City’s resolution, made at meeting Feb 1st




Gwangju City resolved to keep their top spot as the “Nation’s No. 1”, based on local government integrity and anti-corruption levels.

The resolution was made during the regular assembly, held in the main meeting room on the 3rd floor of City Hall, Feb 1st at 9 a.m. The meeting was attended by 660 workers, comprising city-hall employees and workers from other companies in the same building.

Attendees pledged to “Gain the respect of Gwangju’s 1.45 million residents, and ‘stay No. 1 on integrity’ by serving modestly, whilst also being more transparent and fair.”

At the meeting, the city resolved to foster a cleaner, more transparent mood for workers in public office, take the chance to strengthen the desire to increase integrity and release a promotional anti-corruption video message.

A City official who participated in the meeting said: “Gwangju City will establish a moral spirit amongst public officials and this year continue to build on its current position by realizing a true, transparent municipal government, making strict commitments against corruption and increasing local pride in its status as the No. 1-integrity city in Korea.”
