Overview

The Die and Mould industry is a major export industry as well as a key industry which is a basis for manufacturing. Gwangju provides assistance in technology development, overseas marketing, and sensitive high tech equipment to nurture the die and mould industry.
Recently the city has been planning to build a die and mould cluster complex and establish a center for die and mould test production. By doing so, it is prepared to provide comprehensive service in die and mould technology from design, processing, and building to selling.

Investment Environment and Measure to Support

• Forward/ Backward linkage with three leading industries: increase in the demand for die and mould according to the development of the automobile, electronics and photonics industries
• Formation of a development basis by establishing an industrial infrastructure: possibility of rapid processing export volume by building a Try-out Center as a regional specialization project and expanding SOC.
• Vitalizing linked industries such as the designing of dies and moulds, the heating process of specific materials for dies and moulds, and processing of surfaces
• Stable demand in the region: attracting large corporations including KIA Motors, Samsung Electronics, LG Innotek
• Nurturing the industry by being selected as a Regional Innovation Specification Project (from Sep. 2004 to June 2007 / 11.4 billion won)
  • - Technological support (technology development including shortening the period of delivery of die and mould products, extending the grace period), overseas marketing support (market development team), nurturing human resources (setting up specified plans for die and mould technology, nurturing the human resources tailored to the industry and academia and running an academy for dies and moulds)
