- June, 1976 initiated the second Gwangju regional development project
- January 6, 1981 changed the use of land for industrial site (Ministry of Construction and Transportation notification no. 2)
- January 20, 1981 ground-breaking (1st phase) - Iri Regional Construction and Management Administration
- September 20, 1982 designated as provincial industry development promotion zone (1st phase)
- December 20, 1983 completed (1st phase)
- September 30, 1985 changed the use of land for industrial site (2nd phase)
- February 8, 1986 complex project plan received government approval (2nd phase)
- July 19, 1986 designated as provincial industrial complex (presidential decree no. 11,949)
- November 4, 1986 ground-breaking (2nd phase) - project manager: Korea Land Corporation
- February 16, 1987 designated as provincial industry development promotion district (2nd phase)
- April 15, 1988 changed basic plan for urban development (3rd phase)
- November 16, 1988 changed the use of land for industrial site (3rd phase)
- January 27, 1989 complex construction plan got government approval (3rd phase)
- February 1, 1989 ground-breaking (3rd phase) - project manager: Gwangju Metropolitan Government
