The Hoe Town is lined with 20 hoe restaurants offering fresh hoe at inexpensive prices in large portions. The Hoe Town located inside Daein Market which starts from the entrance of the old Gwangju Dongmun Bridge (next to Miz Plaza Building) in Gyelim-dong offers visitors an opportunity to enjoy abundant fresh hoe at inexpensive prices. The Hoe Town selected as one of Gwangju's famous food streets offers a wide selection of hoe and outside customers are surprised at the plentiful food and generosity of the region.

Songjeongdong Ddeokgalbi - Passers-by are involuntarily halted in their tracks by the savory aroma of roasted galbi

In front of the Gwangsan-gu Office the savory aroma of roasting galbi stops passers-by. A total of ten ddeokgalbi (square-shaped marinated beef rib) restaurants are lined in front of back alley of the gu-office. Ddeokgalbi invented by an elderly lady whose hometown in Jeonju is made by mincing beef rib and other beef parts, making it square-shaped like the Korean traditional cake of ddeok and roasting it on charcoal. Ddeokgalbi is not only easy to eat but also is extremely delicious with its tender meat juicily marinated with various spices. Soup boiled with beef bones and radish is offered free of charge without limit, which testifies to the warm generosity of the city.

The alley next to Hyundai Department Store in Gwangju is the nation's famous "Oritang Street." The alley dotted with 16 Oritang restaurants whets appetite of passers-by with its savory aroma of oritang. Oritang offering in the alley has a pleasant and non-greasy aftertaste and thick flavor. Oritang in the street is different from other oritang as it is seasoned with bean paste and cooked with plentiful perilla seed powder and dried vegetables.

This street has been chosen as the Street of Traditional Food by Gwangju Metropolitan City.
