Gossaumnori Festival, Chilseok-dong, Nam-gu Old Resident Together
This is a folk game that has been handed down as one of the full-moon's day customs in Ottdolmaeul, Chilseok-dong, Namgu. It was designed to pray good harvest and peace of the village, and promote cooperation, patience and unity of the village people. Gossaumnori is a compound of 'Go' and 'Ssaum', and it is assumed that it was derived from two 'Go's' struggle and 'Go' indicates a circular noting. Two teams indicating male and female struggle riding Go. Winning of Seobu symbolizing female is believed to assure a good harvest. Gossaumnori which incorporates cheerful disposition and taste of Namdo people, was presented as an official event after the opening ceremonies of 86 Asian Game and 88 Olympics.
