Mandri was sung when farmers planted rice in early June, and rooted out weeds three times in June and July. This festival was designed to console hard-working servants and enhance the harmony between village people. The performance is progressed as follows: the lead singer holding a flag of 'Nong-ja-cheon-ha-ji-dae-bon' sings first to the beat of Nongak, followed by a refrain of the second singer to pray for good harvest. Servants return home, beating gongs riding on bulls after they finish field work. In village. a variety of exciting performances and shows such as Pungmulnori and Pansori are provided. According to the Mandri Reproduction Committee(director: Kim Duk-soo), our traditional farming culture that was commonly found 20 years ago is disappearing. And it said that the valuable rhythm of Mandri should be restored. Dept. of General Affairs, Seo-gu
